Only a month ago, Google had updated the Android Distribution chart to list ICS installs at 10.9%. Now three weeks after the official release of Android 4.1 Jellybean, Google has once again updated the chart, revealing that Android 4.0 (up 5 percent) now powers 15.9% of Android devices and Jellybean at 0.8%.
Unfortunately, Android 2.3 Gingerbread is still holding a massive 60.6% chunk despite the continuation of ICS rollouts by manufacturers and the sale of pre-Jellybean phones like the HTC One series and the Samsung Galaxy S III. Google I/O was when Google revealed 400 million Android activations to date and that there were about 600,000 apps with about 20 billion downloads. These statistics really show how significant the Android Distribution chart numbers really are and I can’t wait to see how much has changed next month.
