Last week, Oppo (a chinese phone manufacturer, previously known to have showcased the world’s thinnest smartphone) unveiled the world’s first smartphone with a 1080p display. Yes, that’s right, a 1080p display (1920 x 1080 px) which is commonly found on HDTVs is shrunken into a 5-inch display on a phone that also packs some serious specs. According to Tom’s Hardware, it features a 5-inch display with a presumably tiny bezel and a whopping pixel density of 441 ppi, the newest Quad Core chipset from Qualcomm; the Snapdragon S4 Pro SoC (same as the LG Optimus G), 2GB of RAM, 12MP camera, a reasonable 2,500mAh battery and of course, Android 4.1 Jelly Bean!
No details on it’s availability or pricing but it’s sure to come soon. What do you guys think? Will this drive major Android OEMs like Samsung, HTC and Sony to innovate more as underdogs like Oppo seem to have been showing off amazing stuff more and more recently?
