That is the new slogan of Flickr, which, remember now has 89 million active users. Indeed, the photo sharing service acquired in 2005 boasts new features, and most importantly, a new interface. Each user has 1TB of storage…that’s enough to store a picture every hour for 61 years, or 537,000 high resolution images per user!

All these changes fall when Flickr is losing momentum, presumably to rival systems like the Facebook owned Instagram. The goal is to reconquer photography lovers, and enlist new members.

A new Android app is also available, offering 16 new filters, It also adopts the new interface, a convenient bi-directional browsing for Contacts and Albums, and possibility to view the images in their original resolution. Henceforth the app is available in 10 languages, which will permit shares on Twitter, Facebook, Tumblr, and geolocation with Foursquare.

The design is ver sleek, and refined, with large pictures on the home page, amongst many other improvements designed to rejuvenate the service and at the same time rejuvenate Yahoo! who, let’s face it, really need it.

Flickr New Interface

A new loading screen will allow users to edit tags, metadata, sharing settings and so on, even before the pictures are uploaded. Traditional Pro subscription has now been dropped, but for $50 you can be rid of those pesky ads. Similarly, for $ 500 per year your storage capacity is doubled up to a huge 2TB. Finally, the amount of 1080p HD video that each user can upload had been increased from 90 seconds, to 3 minutes.

New interface, new profile

The changes do not stop at the home page … Now, as on Google+, Twitter or Facebook, users can customize their profile by adding a cover picture. The navigation menu to access your albums and favourite images were also reviewed.

The flow of updates features a new layout and engineers have implemented a new type of slideshow with transition effects and a mechanism for the recognition of faces. Finally, there is a new search feature, which will come in handy for those with a tonne of images.

New Search Function

Yahoo! has chosen to put the emphasis on content, forcing additional information into the background. When you click on an image, it literally fills the screen. You will then need to scroll down in order to see information such as the license, size, author, comments, or the camera model used.

Is Yahoo! on the right lines here with Flikr? Can they really compete with the titan that is Instagram? Why not tell us what you think below…
