Google Hangouts Soon To Have SMS/MMS Intergration

In May, during the Google I/O conference, Google Announced the new features of Google Hangouts. In these, there was the introduction of both an SMS and MMS module for Android smartphones. The option will be integrated soon according to Android Police.

Currently, Android is lacking an all-in-one messaging app, with users having to regularly juggle between the messaging app for SMS/MMS and the Handout app for online conversations via the Google Talk service. It is thought that if the new service does come into play, then this will bring both SMS/MMS and online conversations all under one app.

The evolution goes further. Dori Storbeck, head of communication at Google, explained that Hangouts will also replace the phones SMS module. It seems that the work is being finalized according to the specialized Android Police. The author of the post, a Google+ friend launched the rumour by circulating really interesting, and revealing screenshots. He explained that he had recovered a few shots of version 1.3. Only Google Voice – always absent in Europe – missed the call. Having a unified messenger app may well be a good thing for many, but a lot of other, especially those who don’t use online chat, may find this new integration a little confusing.
