Google – Pretty Fresh Blood For The Nexus 7

Definitely this wednesday will have been an opportunity for Google to remind people that they are a major actor in the communication devices scene… The Mountain View giant has benefited from the introduction of Jelly Bean 4.3 to support the new version of their flagship tablet, the Nexus 7.

Genesis and design

We mentioned above that the new Nexus 7 will run Jelly Bean 4.3. Asus once again have made the device a real work of a master. The design was slightly reworked, with thinner edges on both sides of the screen. The Nexus 7 has among others a covered hull that offers a soft touch grip, and overall, there is a better finish.

Finally, it will be available in August for a price between $ 229 and $ 269 depending of the storage, and unlike the previous model which was proposed only on the Play Store, this new tablet will be available through all dealers like Amazon and Best Buy. So no waiting for months for a device to ship like last time.

Nexus 7Technical specifications

The Nexus 7 is equipped with a Quad-Core CPU, the Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Pro, clocked at 1.5GHz and an Adreno 320 GPU. It will be powered by 2 GB of RAM.

The display consists of a beautiful 7 inches IPS Full HD touchscreen with a resolution of 1920 x 1200 pixels, and pixel density of 323 DPI. Storage will be provided by two capacities, 16GB and 32GB. Note the presence of two cameras, a rear 5 megapixels, and a front 1.2 megapixel.

The connection is quite varied. We thus find, Wi-Fi 802.11n dual-band (2.4GHz and 5GHz), Bluetooth 4.0 LE, NFC technology, a Slim Port which will serve as HDMI output, a new standard the Qi technology, which allows wireless recharging.

The dimensions are just 200 x 114 x 8.65 mm and 290 grams (299 grams for the 4G model). The battery is a Lithium-ion, of 3950 mAh, and supposedly can provide up to 10 hours of video playback.

I have the original 16GB Nexus 7 and I don’t think I will be upgrading. The device I have is already an excellent tablet and the specs aren’t really out of date. I personally think that this release was a little quick on the heels of the original Nexus 7. But hey, what do I know. :-)

Undoubtedly, Google sets the stage for another big revolution in this area, because release a new device with so less new features and performances before Apple and other manufacturers are not pronounced, it is not too used to the leader of the internet research. Just wait and see
