Google’s latest Mobile OS Version Will Be Android Kit Kat 4.4

From Gingerbread, to Honeycomb, to the Jelly Bean, every Android release has a sweet name and to celebrate one billion devices powered the mobile operating system, Google just announced the code name of the upcoming version: Android Kit Kat 4.4.
We all thought that the next release of Android will have Key Lime Pie as it’s code name, but Google & Nestle executives got together and surprised us with the new code name. Nestle’s Bula said that they took only 24 hours to decide that the Android Team could use Kit Kat as name adding that:
When you try to lead a new way of communicating and profiling a brand you always have a higher risk than doing something much more traditional.
According to BBC, Nestle plan to deliver 50 million Kit Kat chocolate bars across the world to promote it, featuring the Android mascot, including countries like UK, Canada, USA, and Brazil.
Google’s Lagerling also confirmed that they intend to keep Key Lime Pie as Android’s next name, and to not let the real name leak like it has happened to other companies in the past. It was also a surprise to Google employees to discover the real name only yesterday, when they exposed the mascot outside of Google HQ in Mountain View, California.
Here is a list of all Android release until today: Cupcake (1.5), Doughnut (1.6), Éclair (2.0), Froyo (2.2), Gingerbread (2.3), Honeycomb (3.0), Ice Cream Sandwich (4.0) and Jelly Bean (4.1).
Could we be looking at Android 5.0 Lion Bar? Or maybe a droid version of the Lindt bunny rabbit? Only time will tell I suppose…
