Iconia A3 – The Low Cost Tablet By Acer
This week, is the IFA in Berlin, and we are bound to be treated to a lot of surprises. The first of which comes from Acer who are launching a new low cost tablet, the Iconia A3, with an impressive 10-inch screen. Let take a closer look…
Technical Specifications
The Iconia A3 features an IPS LCD screen of 10.1 inches, 16:10 format, with a resolution of 1280×800 pixels for a pixel density of 150 ppi. There are also two stereo speakers, which provides Dolby surround sound.
Under the hood, the machine is powered by a quad-core SoC ARM Cortex-A7 from MediaTek, clocked at 1.2 GHz, and a choice of either 16 or 32 GB of internal memory, expandable by micro-SD slot. Two cameras will capture the moments and pass video calls. We thus find a back 5 mega-pixel sensor, and a front 1.2.
Connectivity is quite complete. So we distinguish two versions, the first exclusively equipped with WiFi, and other with 3G. However, both versions have a micro HDMI output and Bluetooth 4.0. The Iconia A3 will run on Android 4.2 Jelly Bean, and its battery promises up to 9 nine hours of life. The interface is more polished, with some adjustments made by Acer’s software overlay.
Conclusion
The Iconia A3 will probably not be able to compete with the most prominent tablets, but we assume that it will be a great player for those after a cheap tablet. The device will be launched in Europe in early October at a retail price from $329 for WiFi versions. The 3G version will wait for the month of November and will cost anything from $395.
