IFA 2013 – Acer Liquid S2, Ultra HD/4K Smartphone
This is definitely the week for Acer. After having presented throughout the week, a tablet, a computer, and other gadgets the Chinese manufacturer presents the Acer Liquid S2, a great smartphone shooting in Ultra HD/4K.
Technical Specifications
With its impressive size, it is more a phablet than a smartphone. It is equipped with a powerful SOC, Qualcomm Snapdragon 800, clocked at 2.2 GHz, and is powered by 2GB of RAM. To show off the photos and videos of the highest quality made ​​by its cameras, the display shows a 6 inches diagonal, and has a Full HD resolution of 1920×1080 pixels, for a pixel density of 368 ppi. This IPS LCD is also covered in Gorilla Glass 3 to protect it from those annoying scratches.
We find two cameras. The rear is a retro-exposed 13 million pixels CMOS, with a resolution of 3840×2160 pixels. It can also shoot in Full HD 1080p up to 60 f/s. It is wearing a lens equivalent to a 28 mm f/2.2, and sports a ring flash consisting of four LED’s.
Several picture modes are available, such as burst mode, slow motion, panorama, scene modes, filters, etc. The front camera meanwhile isjust 2 million pixels but does film in Full HD. 16 GB of internal memory is allocated to storage and expandable via a MicroSD slot. It has a more than adequate connectivity, 4G LTE, so up to 150 Mb/s, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0 and NFC.
The slab is powered by a 3300 mAh battery. Neither the availability or price have been announced yet, but it is expected by the end of the year with it’s Android operating system.
