Meizu MX3 – A Mass Effect Smartphone Being Developped

Meizu…The name probably won’t mean anything to you, but the Chinese manufacturer is preparing a smartphone, the MX3, with huge specs. A high-end smartphone so sophisticated that it is more expensive than many Japanese and Western smartphones. But is it too much?

Look & Feel

The Meizu MX3 uses Apple products traits and do not hide it, but will also bring a lot of innovations. It’s front is reminiscent of the iPhone 5, the rear of a Blackberry, and its hull is more like a HTC One, and we must admit that the result is well worth consideration. We find a single centre button like on the iPhone, but on the MX3, it is not clickable, but rather touch enabled. And two side buttons to adjust the volume.06613026-photo-meizu-mx3A beautiful, borderless screen which will impress most people who pick the device up. It will run Android 4.2 Jelly Bean, with the home made overlay Flyme 3.0, which has been met with a lot of praise over in the east.

The Meizu MX3 has an IPS LCD screen of 5.1 inches, manufactured by Sharp, which shows an unprecedented resolution of 1800×1080 pixels, a 15:9 ratio and a pixel density of 415 ppi. An Octa-core CPU, the Exynos 5410, which consists of four A15 cores clocked at 1.6GHz, four A7 cores clocked at 1.2 GHz, and take over a PowerVR SGX 544MP3 GPU designed by Samsung power the guts of the device. This is the same CPU used for the Samsung Galaxy S4.

The unit is powered by 2 GB of RAM and an internal memory up to 128 GB. Connectivity is pretty exhaustive: WiFi 802.11 b/n/g and N dual band, DLNA, Bluetooth 4.0, GPS, NFC, LTE, 3G and HSPA+. Battery life, in turn, should be pretty good to it’s 2400 mAh battery.

06613030-photo-meizu-mx3There are two cameras. A back 8 mega-pixel and a front 2 mega-pixels. The rear one is a 1/3.2 inch retro-exposed CMOS produced by Sony, associated with a sapphire protected f/2 lens and a Fujitsu processing chip, providing electronic stabilization and up to 20 frames/s capture burst. It films in Full HD 1080p at 30 frames/s, and has a four-directional panoramic view. There are also an LED flash.

Finally, note that the MX3 also has great audio, with a dedicated Wolfson controller associated with a dedicated headphone amplifier. The set boasts a high report signal-to-noise of 113 dB and 0.002% low distortion rate. To conclude, note that as the Moto X, the also MX3 sports three microphones to improve call quality.

Conclusion

One thing is certain, the big boys may well be worried. The Meizu MX3 will probably being marketed only in China, but its capabilities could allow it to be imported by specialized resellers, as have been his predecessors, as it is compatible with Western cellular networks. The Meizu MX3 will set you back between $410 and $650 depending the amoun of storage you want. Availability is scheduled for October this year.
