Microsoft – On The Trail Of A Smartphone Mood Detection!

MoodScope is the name of that smartphone, and it is currently in prototype phase. To believe Microsoft Research documents which mentionned it, it would be able to determine the state of mind of a user.

So Microsoft Logothe mood of the user can be identify very precisely via the data stored in the terminal, the mails or SMS, or applications that they use, and activity on the web.

This accumulated information can then compared with a database associated with feelings. Currently, a test is performed in the laboratories of Microsoft Research, with a panel of 32 people and so far the system has had a 93% succession rate in predicting a persons mood – according to Microsoft.

With such features, smartphones are also able to quickly share the state of mind of the user on various social networks. Dedicated services are also offered, such as activities, VOD movies or books, always depending on their mood. The researchers behind this technology say:

The video and music recommendation systems such as Netflix or Spotify could incorporate the mood of the user in their recommendation algorithms

On the trail of a smartphone mood detectionIt must be said that the targeting of content and advertising will be more precise, which brings up yet more questions about privacy. Although Microsoft researchers ensure that the processing of data is anonymous and the data is not stored, it is difficult to bet on when you know the history and reputation of the Redmond company.
