Razer Blade – The Big Bad Wolf Of Gaming Laptops

Razer, the American company specialized in the design and configurations of peripherals for gamers, announced today the renewal of its flagship product, the Blade. Now it will be available in two screen sizes 14 inches for the Blade, and 17.3 inches for the Blade Pro.

Razer Blade

Aesthetically speaking, the Razer Blade is a very nice machine. It is inasnely thin as just 1.6cm, that’s thinner than the Macbook Air. The hull is made entirely of aluminium, but dyed black and the result is pretty awesome.

Technically, the CPU is an Intel Core of 4th generation (code name Haswell), powered by 8GB of DDR3L RAM clocked at 1600MHz. The 14-inch display features a resolution of 1600 x 900 pixels, LED backlight and has the 16:9 HD technology. The GPU is the latest of NVIDIA, the GeForce GTX 765m clocked at 2 GB.

Storage is provided by a 128GB SSD (expandable to 256 and 512GB optional). The connections are complete: a Killer Wireless-N network from Qualcomm (for the WiFi and Bluetooth 4.0) module, 3 USB 3.0 ports, stereo speakers, HDMI audio and video output and a 1.3 megapixel HD webcam.

The icing on the cake is the Razer keyboard equipped with an anti-ghosting technology with adjustable backlight and Kensington Security Lock. This arsenal is in a box with the dimensions of 345 x 16.8 x 235 mm and a weight of 1.876 kg, all with a claimed 6 hours of battery life. The Razer Blade will be available for pre-order on June 3, 2013 in Canada and the United States. Its entry price is set at $1,799.

Razer Blade Pro

Here not much to say. The technical specifications are the same. The CPU is an Intel Core i7 quad-core, powered by 8GB of RAM clocked at 1600MHz DDR3L. The screen features a diagonal of 17 inches, and this time the resolution is 1920 x 1080, with an LED backlight.

The GPU is the latest of NVIDIA’s crop, the GeForce GTX 765m with 2GB of dedicated RAM. Storage is provided by a 128GB SSD (expandable to 256 and 512GB optional), and all the chassis connections are the same as the Razer Blade.

Bla Razer Pro

The Razer Blade Pro features the same backlit keyboard as it’s smaller sibling, but the keyboard is accompanied by a small touch screen on the right, but this is to the detriment of the touchpad. This arsenal is in a box with the dimensions of 427 x 22.4 x 277 mm and a weight of 2.98 kg, and again boast 6 hours of life. The Announced Razer Blade Pro will be available for pre-order in Canada and the U.S. from June 3. If you want to own it, it may break the bank at $2299.

For the money do you guys think this device is worth shelling out for? Or would you rather buy something more mainstream like an Alienware, Macbook, or even the Chromebook Pixel? Why not tell us your thoughts below…
