Sony Vaio Fit – New Perspectives

Sony announced a few hours ago to renew its fleet of laptops, mostly mid-range devices. This is how we discovered the Sony Vaio Fit range, which will succeed to the Vaio E and T.
Technical specifications
This new range offers not one, not two, but five new laptops altogether. Here is an basic overview of their system configurations:
- Vaio Duo 11: Intel Core i5-3337U CPU (1.80GHz), the display slides for tablet use with a diagonal of 11.6-inches (Full HD of 1920×1080). 6GB of RAM, and 128GB SSD
- Vaio Fit 14: Mix of plastic and aluminium, 14-inches (1600×900) HD touch screen, Core i3-3227M (1.90GHz), 4GB RAM, SSD cache and 1TB HDD and Blu-ray
- Vaio Fit 15E: All plastic case, 15.5-inches (1366×768) HD, Pentium 2117U (1.80GHz), 4GB RAM, 1TB HDD and DVD burner
- Vaio Fit 15: Aluminium, with Full HD 15.5-inches touch screen (1920×1080), Core i5-3337U (2GHz), 8GB RAM. There will also be a Core i7 version of this device.
Main feature of these machines is that they offer higher resolutions, on the order of 1600×900 or 1920×1080 pixels (with the exception of the budget 15E). A backlit keyboard with separate keys is also in the game, accompanied by a large multi-touch pad.
The connectivity includes Wi-Fi 802.11n, Bluetooth 4.0 and an NFC chip. There is also a USB 2.0 port, two USB 3.0 including one for mobile devices recharging. HDMI output, gigabit network and a combo 3.5mm jack socket for headphones and microphone there is also an SDHC card reader present. Finally a HD retro-exposed webcam (CMOS Exmor R sensor) will overlook the screen.
Other specs
Neither the price nor availability dates have been released yet. However, prices are thought to be around $549 for the VAIO Fit 15E, while the Fit range starts at around $649. That’s certainly enough to give a boost to Windows 8 with sales at half mast. Indeed, all these new computers will be equipped with the latest operating system from Microsoft. Finally, we note that three colors will be available: Black, Pink and Grey.
